Dualo was developed to help you learn a new language by using the content you use in chat conversations and the phrases that you mark as important. We have added answers to the questions that we receive most frequently.

How do I sign up for Dualo?
Start by downloading the Dualo app from the Apple App Store and register with your email address in Dualo directly.

How do I start a new chat?
In the chat tab you can click the plus button in the right upper corner to search for users and create a new chat request. Users must accept your chat request before you can chat with them.

How can I accept chat requests?
Chat requests automatically appear at the top of your list with chats where you can either accept or deny them.

How can I generate new content to learn?
Dualo takes the phrases that you marked as favourite to generate your learning content. Therefore, you must mark phrases as favorite in order to obtain additional learning content. You can mark a message as favorite by long-pressing the message.

Which languages are currently supported?
Dualo currently supports Dutch, English, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. We plan to support more languages in the future.

Do you plan on integrating a chatbot to practice writing and generate more content for me to learn?
Yes, we are currently working on a solution that removes the need for another person to chat with. Doing so, you can start learning new languages right after downloading Dualo.

How can I reset my password?
You can reset your password by clicking the respective button on the login screen within Dualo. We will send a reset code to your email address which you can use to reset your password.

How can I delete my account?
We are unhappy to see you go, but you can delete your account and all associated information by going to the profile screen and clicking the respective button. After your confirmation, all information tied to you is deleted irreversibly.

Are you planning to release Dualo for Android?
Our current focus is to extend the functionalities of Dualo for iOS first. Once that is done, we plan to implement the same functionalities in an Android version.

Dualo allows users to exchange messages in text form. Any information you choose to share in chats is visible to the person you are chatting with. Please exercise caution when sharing personal information.

We use your information to provide our unique custom learning experience that is focused around the phrases that you mark as favorite.

5. Legal basis for processing
If you are located in jurisdictions such as the European Economic Area, we process your personal data based on legal grounds such as your consent, the performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, or legitimate interests.

6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information when required by law, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse.

7. Data retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

8. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability. You may also withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

10. Third party services
Dualo uses DeepL as a third party translation service. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of DeepL and we encourage you to review their policies.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be presented within Dualo, and continued use of Dualo constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
